Random Thoughts on Leap Day

As the day and the month are coming to a close, I thought I should at least post one more time as my February 1st post is looking very lonely....  and it will be another four years until I can write a blog post on a Leap Day!

The month has flown by!  I have discovered that when you add a Mom2Mom meeting every other Wednesday and also a Beth Moore Bible study on Thursday nights, the days are full and go by quickly!  Then, of course, there is the free Constitution 101 class through Hillsdale College that Chris and I thought would be a good idea to do...and it is!  I just wish I could read as fast as my children do because there are reading assignments each week, and I know I should have better comprehension!  But I did enjoy reading through our wonderful Declaration and Constitution again--it had been a while.  The first lecture was great and Chris and I both marveled that a college would require a class like this for all its students, no matter their major.  I think we need more Hillsdales across America.

On my reading list every year I have several classics listed that I either don't remember ever reading, or have read so long ago I that I want to read them again using my adult brain.  So, I just finished Animal Farm by George Orwell.  My only comment for it right now is this: probably not the most uplifting choice to be reading after 3 years of Obama and his makeover for the U.S.   1984 is on my list too, but I'm not sure I'm up to reading about the scary future that seems to have arrived.  I am purging myself of Animal Farm depression by reading Condoleezza Rice's No Higher Honor.

I've been getting in to the gym more and that's been nice!

We're one month closer to having the kids back in California!

Finally finished binding a quilt I had been working on - yay!  I can't believe I'm admitting this, but I did the hand-stitiching on it while I watched the Academy Awards.  I don't know what possessed me to watch this year, I usually avoid the whole goofy hoopla.  It was fun seeing all the pretty gowns, but kind of annoying that Hugo and The Artist won so many awards.

Anyway, onward to March and March Madness!
